We take our builds seriously and use CSS and XHTML extensively. The CSS that we prefer utilizes strict parent-child relationships coupled with tag declarations. Over time we have found that this formula offers the strongest possible combination within specific parental groups, so that designs can be matched to a tee, while allowing a great deal of flexibility between groups.

Utilizing a combination of these technologies and jQuery allows us to control the user experience to a degree that used to only be available via Flash applications.

CSS is the Talk Around Town. So What is It?

Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) are a very powerful tool for the web site developer. They allow for consistent look and feel across all pages of a web site, while giving much more control over the layout and design – more so than pure HTML ever did.

Styles are normally saved in external .css files. External style sheets enable changes to the appearance and layout just by editing one single CSS document. In other words, it allows for the separation of the layout and design from the content and code. One other big benefit is that it increases the SEO value of the web site by replacing our dependency on table based layout solutions that greatly effect SEO.

Essentially, using CSS allows us to build web sites and applications better, faster, and easily make changes to them over time.

What are DHTML & XHTML?

Dynamic HTML and XHTML are really not new specifications of HTML, but rather a new way of looking at and controlling the standard HTML codes and commands. DHTML, XHTML, and CSS allow for greater control of web pages and ability to combine events with changes initiated in the pages.
